Walking on the Far Left

Whilst being an avid SWP member and a huge fan of the much awaited Marxism Festival and the many other smaller national events within the party, being on the Marxism team was not something I'd ever done before. In spite of the long hours (starting qt 9:30- long before festival goers arrived- and ending late into the evening) the making of sacrifices of not attending certain meetings, and the effort of stewarding and organising large groups, it was a really enjoyable experience for me and one I would like to have again. From the very beginning helping set up all the chairs in the venue to the final singing of the Internationale by all to close the festival, I immediately felt confident and proud to be representing a party I valued so much, and give something in return for all the many opportunities they had given me in developing my activist profile. With recent voting trends showing a shocking increase in support for the far right amongst the UK and the significant potential for the ultranationalist extremist Reform Party (along with several other extreme minority groups that are even further to the right) to form the next government, one would assume that the left are all in agreement on one thing: the need for the to come together and present a true socially conscious alternative. To some extent, this is true, however the sectarianism amongst the different left wing parties, as well as the infighting that takes place within individual parties themselves, conflict can arise with regard to this. This largely relates to their individual methods and the ways in which they appeal to a specific demographic and work around a niche. After a short break from posting and sorting out some university stuff, I am back online and will continue posting more fire soon. Enjoy. Politics globally, regardless of sovereignty and international influence of governments and the political leaning of politicians, continues to remain a primarily male dominated field and one that is not without its stereotypes amongst voters. There tends to be a misconception that the typical characteristics of female politicians are similar to those of stereotypical females in general (Scneider, M.C and Bos, A, 2014). In spite of this, this is rarely the case with females perhaps entering politics with their main intention being perhaps to go against female stereotypes and further encourage women to enter a field which continues to have a workforce consisting largely of males. The stereotypes associated with males generally relate to their strength, virility and perhaps lack of sensitivity with greater assertion and more likely use defence and force...

The three political philosophies of libertarianism, liberalism and neoliberalism all have the common intentions of advocacy for individual liberty socially and economically in which freedom of expression and the strong opposition to an individual acting in any way within society that is against their own will and values (be that relating to the protection of their own needs, supporting and involving themselves with their community, the situations of political corruption, or to further allow them to gain influence within society, along with many other reasons). In spite of this, these philosophies do tend to clash, the main cause of this being due to the varying attitudes towards the state.
